Hello! I'm Satheesh Vedanthi, known online as vigyanabikshu. I'm a serial innovator and the founder of 10 startups spanning robotics, mobility, education technology and devotional AI — and a firm believer that real charity isn't about collecting money and redistributing it; it's about creating employment opportunities that empower people to build their own futures.

Over nearly two decades I have taken ideas from a workshop bench to schools, temples and bus fleets across India, backed by around six patents and four registered trademarks. Every venture on this page began the same way: a problem nobody had bothered to solve properly, and the stubbornness to keep going after the first prototype failed.

This is how it happened, in order.

Once upon a time

A Timepiece and a Bulb

In 7th standard, I wanted to wake up at 4 AM to study — and I could not trust myself to get out of bed for an alarm. So I opened up the family timepiece, tapped into its alarm mechanism, and wired it to the bulb in my room. At 4 AM the light came on, and staying asleep was no longer an option.

It worked, and it taught me the thing I have been doing ever since: if a problem annoys you enough, take the cover off something and rewire it.

I Took the Cover Off Things

That was one of many childhood hacks. Anything in the house with a motor, a coil or a switch was fair game, and most of it eventually went back together.

During my B-Tech I decided to build that childhood hack properly — an MCU-based timer to switch lights ON and OFF automatically. To do it I taught myself embedded systems, and the first working versions came out of that.

My first real customer was the Kerala State Electricity Board. I sold them MCU-based timers to switch streetlights on and off automatically, using month-wise preset times so the lights followed the changing sunset and sunrise through the year instead of being switched by hand. It ran well for a few years, until cheap Chinese imports took over the market and I stopped that line — a lesson in Indian hardware economics I would meet again more than once.

Software Paid for the Hardware

In parallel, in 2006, I developed the Sree Smart Handloom Inventory System for the Sree Bhagavathy Handloom Weavers Co-operative Society, Thiruvananthapuram. It computerized the entire operation of a society with 1000+ weavers: importing yarns, distributing materials to work-from-home weavers, collecting finished cloth, and managing wholesale and retail supply.

Nearly two decades later they still use that system, and I still maintain it. That early software work, along with a few other projects, became crucial in funding what came next. It also taught me how technology could transform traditional industries and improve livelihoods at scale.

The Robot That Worked and Still Died

My first major hardware breakthrough came right after my B-Tech, in 2008, with the Kera Robot — an autonomous machine that could climb coconut trees, cut bunches and leaves, and safely descend, addressing a critical need in Kerala's agriculture sector.

The prototype was successful. The technology worked. But insufficient funding prevented commercialization. It was my first major lesson: great innovations need more than just technical success.

So to find fund for Kera Robot and other innovations, I pivoted — not away from the dream, but toward things I could actually sell. The obvious next step from a streetlight timer was a bigger, more useful one: an automatic gong-bell school bell ringing system. I built it, and then I went out and visited schools myself to market it.

Until one day

A Peon Held a Caller Bell to a Microphone

Those school visits changed everything. In 2009, at a school in Malampuzha, I found the staff ringing the period bell in a way I had never considered: a peon held an ordinary caller bell in front of a microphone connected to the school's P.A. system, so the sound reached every classroom through the speakers. No gong, no wiring across the campus — the P.A. system was already doing the hard part.

That sparked it. If the bell could travel over the P.A. system, then so could a voice — announcements, instructions, anything the school wanted to say.

Roboticbell, and Sixteen Years of Closing One Gap

That single observation turned a gong-bell timer into a voice-enabled bell ringing system, and in 2010 Roboticbell was born: India's first voice-enabled bell ringing system.

Inventing the voice bell was the easy half. The hard half was scheduling. In the first version, the school set the times by pressing buttons on the unit, and the MP3 files had to be mixed to each school's exact requirements before delivery. Every change after that — a new exam timetable, a shifted lunch break, an extra announcement — meant sending a technician to the school in person.

That model does not scale, and I realised the business simply could not survive on it. So the button-based setup was replaced with USB connectivity and a Windows application, and for remote changes we initially configured units over TeamViewer — crude, but it meant a school in another district no longer had to wait for a van.

Each version since has closed that gap further:

  • 2020 — a complete redesign with WiFi and IoT, making the bell truly cloud-programmable from anywhere
  • 2025AI introduced into the product
  • 2026Agentic AI, letting the system act on the school's behalf rather than just follow a schedule

Sixteen years from a peon's caller bell held in front of a microphone to an agentic AI that runs the school's day. The problem never changed; only the technology available to solve it did.

One Product Became Ten Ventures

Roboticbell was never only a product — it was the revenue engine that let me keep innovating. Alongside it I built the innovations that were easiest to commercialize, and used them to generate revenue and credibility: Temple Parrot, interactive temple technology; Vedavani, originally the Robotic Puja System, modernizing traditional practices (fb.com/pujasystem); and Busparrot (busparrot.com), smart bus tracking and management.

Ten ventures grew out of that — each one born from a real problem, and each one built to create jobs. They all sit under the V-ROBOTICS innovation umbrella and are showcased through the Bharathiya Innovators Foundation. I'm the Founder and Director of:

Failures, Films, and a Foundation

None of this was a clean run. I've faced numerous setbacks — Kera Robot's funding challenges, obstacles with Roboticbell, struggles with Vedavani, and more. Hardware innovation is particularly challenging in the Indian ecosystem.

In 2014, my story inspired the Malayalam movie Ulsaha Committee, which brought attention to the challenges innovators face. But inspiration works both ways — seeing my journey on screen reminded me why I started.

Because I know firsthand how difficult the innovation path can be, I launched the Bharathiya Innovators Foundation. If my struggles can help smooth the way for other innovators, then every failure becomes worth it.

Charity Stopped Meaning Money

Somewhere across those ventures, the mission clarified itself. Hardware innovation in India is hard. Really hard. But every challenge has taught me something valuable, and every employee I've been able to hire represents a family supported, dreams enabled, and potential unlocked.

That is what convinced me: the best thing an innovation can produce is not a product, it's a payroll. Real charity isn't collecting money and redistributing it — it's creating the work that lets people build their own futures.

Vedic Ecosystems, and What Comes Next

As I continue this entrepreneurial journey, I'm also deeply drawn to my spiritual roots. Being spiritual and curious about Advaita Vedanta and Yogic sciences, I'm planning to focus on Vedagramam in the future.

My vision extends beyond just employment generation — I aim to create Vedic ecosystems and bring God devotion to all homes and hearts through Vedavani and Vedagrams. This is about merging innovation with spirituality, technology with tradition, creating spaces where ancient wisdom meets modern living. Through research in Advaita Vedanta and Yogic sciences, I hope to contribute to a revival of our spiritual heritage while maintaining the same entrepreneurial spirit that has driven my innovations.

The boy who wired a timepiece to a bulb is still doing the same thing. The cover just keeps getting bigger.
